Getting a tattoo is a big decision, and it should be treated with care and respect. At Urban Element tattoo, the space is maintained to meet the standards of the city health department, as well as all state and local regulations.
All licensing and state requirements are kept updated and current.
You can rest assured knowing that Demian is a professional who will take every precaution to keep the environment sterile to optimize safety and health.

Demian is a light handed artist who takes care to be cautious with each client.
However, the tattoo process involves a series of tiny sterilized needles depositing pigment in the skin. While all precautions are taken in every session to minimize pain and risk and maximize comfort, the process is abrasive.
Every body processes pain differently, and the experience varies from person to person. This could also change based on the location getting tattooed.
Topical pain relievers are used throughout every session to reduce irritation and inflammation.
Numbing lotions can impact the skin’s ability to absorb the ink, therefore it is not recommended.

Demian will have your designed prepared the day of your appointment.
To prevent theft, no progress photos or previews are permitted.
When you arrive to your appointment, a drawing will be available. This is the time when any changes, modifications, or alterations can be made to the size, design, or placement. All feedback is encouraged. Together, we can take the time to modify the design any way you would like. All of this time is included in the deposit fee, excluded from the hourly rate.
Any major changes will be booked for a future date, retaining the deposit. In the event of any considerable changes, rescheduling gives Demian time to recreate your piece for a perfect fit.

When you arrive to the shop, you will be greeted by the front desk team who will be able to complete your paperwork and connect you with your artist. There is a comfortable waiting area for clients during any delays.
Inside the shop space, Demian has a private room. The door is kept open for all sessions. A screen or curtain can be set up for privacy, but for safety reasons the door is kept open and unlocked during all operating hours.
After approving the design, a stencil will be created and placed. While the stencil dries, Demian will put the finishing touches on setting up his equipment. By assembling the machines in front of you, this ensures that every item is properly sterilized and that fresh single use needles are being used.
Then, it will be time to get comfortable and get tattooed. The more you are able to relax, the easier the experience will go. Occasional 15 minute breaks are provided for longer pieces, and intermittently as needed. Rescheduling is available as needed, as well, in case of any unexpected circumstances.

Body modification is an art form that has to be handled with care and respect to be done properly, while minimizing the risk for injury or infection.
It is important for the location of the tattoo to be clean. It is recommended to shower the day of your appointment. Get a good night’s sleep, eat a full meal before your appointment, and be sure to drink a lot of water. Having a full stomach and being well hydrated ensures the best comfort for you during the session.
Rescheduling is available as needed, as well, in case of any unexpected circumstances.

Upon arrival, the front desk team will need a current and valid ID for documentation.
Aside from a form of identification, there is nothing that you will need to bring except your skin.
For your comfort, it is recommended to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. While Demian does his best to keep the space as clean as possible, body art involves drips and drops of ink and bodily fluids. It is not recommended to wear a high value white garment, for example. It is highly common for ink to spread to any fabric near the tattoo location.
For full day sessions or longer appointments, it is encouraged to bring headphones and a small blanket to stay cozy.
-
Reference photos are a very important part of the process. Turning your ideas and images in to a high quality tattoo is best done with high quality reference photos.
With any project on, over, or around existing tattoos, such as for touch ups and cover ups, it is best to have measurements in advance.
No ruler? No problem. There are some universally sized items that can be used in the place of a ruler or tape measure, such as a credit card or a can of soda.
A can of soda is 4.8 inches or 12.2 centimeters tall. A credit card is 3.35 inches or 8.56 centimeters. Approximations and estimates are acceptable as well.

Healing a fresh tattoo is simple. Treat it like what it is; an open wound, a new trauma to the skin. As with any stress to the skin, keeping the area clean is critical.
Using a non scented antibacterial soap, clean the area at least twice a day. Pat dry with a paper towel, and apply an unscented hydrator such as Aquaphor liberally, rubbing it into the skin gently. Consistent hydration and cleanliness is key to an easy healing process and a beautiful tattoo that will last a lifetime.
-
Anybody who gets a tattoo completed by Demian is invited back for touch ups, free if within a year of the initial completion.
This guarantees a long lasting tattoo that looks beautiful.
Otherwise, any touch ups can be scheduled as a standard retouch appointment.

Initial concept art pieces are done by hand with pencil and ink. All symmetry is accomplished with a ruler, light table, with attention to detail ensured by the expert eye.
